The film is a 'found-footage' movie about two extremely smart and experienced explorers who are searching for a special stone. To get this stone, they must travel through the Parisian catacombs where they start experiencing some paranormal activity only to reveal later on that they have in fact reached hell. After a series of deaths and battles, only three out of the six explorers make it out alive while the other three die in the catacombs. Abrams believes that the movie could have been made better especially with a different camera style. He gives this film an average rating.
