"Obama: America's 'Deeply Rooted' Racism Will Take Time To Tackle"

President Barack Obama was interviewed recently on the topic of the protests taking place in Ferguson, Missouri. His interview was a response to the young civil rights activists who were leading these protests in Ferguson. The reason for theses riots were because racism is still occurring in many areas of the United States, not concerning racial matters around the world. Obama replied by stating the time will one day come where the world, or more realistically, the United States will no longer face any court cases of discrimination and discrimination will not be an issue anymore. But, he said, in order for this too happen, it will take time. The solution will not come overnight. It will take years. If one were to ask their elders how discrimination was back in their day compared to now, they would apply that it had improved and gotten better, but not completely dissolved.
Discrimination was a major issue back in the days. The severity of discrimination was so bad that African Americans were slaves bought and sold in auctions as if they were objects. They did not have rights and were only given the right to vote as an American years ago. Since discrimination was an issue for so long, the issue will need time be handled. The rest of the world needs time to adjust to the fact that the blacks are no longer our slaves but now people we share the government with. The discrimination issue has not been completely resolved, but it has definitely gotten better.

The Ferguson Case
"Anxiety Mounts In Ferguson As City Waits On Grand Jury"
By: David A. Lieb and Andale Gross
Source: Huffington Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/23/ferguson-anxiety_n_6208844.html
It has been around four months and America is still caught up in the Ferguson case. About four months ago, a white male police officer, Darren Wilson, killed an eighteen year old black male, Michael Brown, in the middle of a St. Louis suburb street. This event started many riots and robberies by African American who claimed inequality between the blacks and the whites still existed and the shooting was because of Wilson's of racism towards blacks. The jury was supposed to come together on Friday and reach their final decision of whether or not Wilson was to be found guilty, but the jury was not able to make a decision. The more they postpone their decision-making, the angrier people would get and start protesting or rioting. Many people believe that Wilson will not be indicted and the continuous postponements of the jury were to make a positive spin. When the jury makes their final decision is not guaranteed, although they scheduled to reconvene on Monday.
The claim that Wilson shot Brown solely for his skin color, makes this hard to believe. There must be more to the case, rather than just the fact that Brown was black. There must have been some other reason that Wilson killed Brown. Perhaps Brown charged at him when Wilson arrested him. Maybe Brown threatened him when Wilson tried to arrest him. Anything could have been possible. Especially nowadays, and especially in America, people are not killed because of their skin color. People must sin to be punished.

Nature
The birds are chirping. The sun is shining. The clouds are doing their rounds around the sky, once in a while blocking the sunlight to shine over the city. The air smells fresh. Occasionally, the wind pushes the scent of the food being cooked by the restaurant down the block to be inhaled by my nose. An airplane will soar through the sky sometimes. The sirens of the ambulance can be heard. I pray for the poor souls who lost their lives while I sat down on my front porch, observing the heroes who would attempt to save them. The rush of the cars on the freeway overpowers the chirps of the birds after a while. The clouds continue to rotate, doing their daily rounds. I hear a screeching sound but the crash or boom never come. The fortunate soul has escaped injury or death this time. I see green. I see buildings. I see plants. I see cars. Los Angeles is a city built within a basin.
The takeover of technology has influenced the change of the city dramatically. You are laying down, eyes closed, listening to the chirping of the birds and the rush of the winds, thinking you are enjoying nature. A second later, you will hear the rush of the cars, the jets of the airplanes, and the sirens of the ambulance. There is no full escape from technology. Even in the woods, one must use either navigation or a phone to locate themselves. There is no escape. We are trapped in the world of technology. Some consider this a positive change, some consider this a negative. Everything is in the perspective of the beholder.

Year 2035
What does our future hold? How far will society advance by the year 2035? How will education change? How will people change? How will society change? I believe the world is going to change to be for technologically advanced. New gadgets are being produced by the day and eventually, everything will be computerized. This technology advancement will affect education greatly. Students will not be required to buy thick heavy textbooks, but will have to buy a laptop or computer tablet where their work will be done and studied. More classes will be available to take online. Teachers will provide more work to be done on the computer than on paper. Notes in class will be taken on computers or tablets. Sooner or later, our tests and quizzes will also be taken on the computers or tablets and be turned in through a specific website. One day, there will be wifi anywhere. People will pay for their wireless internet not only on their phones, but their computers also. All work will be done online. Now, it is not very different. Projectors and smart boards are currently being used to teach kids their class lessons. Many schools already require a laptop for homework and textbook use. This is just the beginning. Soon, all schools will have this technological luxury. Advances like this do not happen overnight. Over the next few years, learning will be made more interesting. I am a learner, although I do not mind teaching. A person as impatient as me should not have the opportunity to teach kids or teens who might find the material harder than others.
Teen Sex Trafficking
"Sex Trafficking Isn't An 'Over There' Issue, 100,000 U.S. Kids Are Sold Into It Every Year"

Source: The Huffington Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/02/sex-trafficking-kids-us_n_6083890.html?utm_hp_ref=crime&ir=Crime
Sex trafficking was one of the crimes least expected to take place in America. People were shown a map and asked to point out which countries they thought would have a high crime of human trafficking to which they answered South America, Amsterdam, Thailand, and so on. Sex trafficking is thought to be a crime of countries in poverty. What most people do not know is that America is just as bad as these countries, if not worse. One hundred kids are sold into sex trafficking every year. Gender does not matter since boys are being sold just as much as girls. The law states that any human under the age of eighteen who participates in prostitution is actually a sex trafficking victim. A nonprofit organization called ECPTAT-USA has stepped in to finally raise awareness for these hidden crimes. The stories told by the teens who are forced into child prostitution are quite heartbreaking. These teens are eventually sold to pimps and used as prostitutes.
Humans live in such a shameful universe. These crimes are so heartless. They should never exist. The word rape should not exist. The word should not have a meaning because people should not rape others. This world is so hateful that the next targets are children. Why should the children's innocent souls be punished? Why should they be raped? Why should they be scarred for life? Why should their future and their dreams be ripped away from them? This is not fair. Sex trafficking kids is not fair. Sex trafficking in general is not fair.

Superman and Me
"Superman and Me" is a somewhat biographical essay about a young Indian boy who learned to read earlier than the expected age of a child. His teachers stereotyped him and did not expect much from a boy of his race. Others were truly amazed when he showed off his reading talents.
The subject of this essay is the stereotyping of an Indian boy who teaches himself how to read. The occasion of the essay was in 1998 where it was published in the Los Angeles Times. The audience of the essay are schoolteachers and readers of the Los Angeles Times. The purpose of the essay is to inform. The speaker is Sherman Alexie. The tone of the essay is confident, encouraging, supportive, and positive.
Using the SOAPST, the audience learns about the roots of the essay. The reader realizes what the purpose of the essay is. Alexie wrote this essay expecting to bring up a personal experience about stereotyping. Stereotyping is common among not only schoolteachers toward their students, but to people all around the world. Alexie presented how he broke that stereotype and encouraged other young Indians to do the same.
The piece of literature is effective for the intended audience because it demonstrates how unnecessary stereotyping is not only to students, but people of all kinds. Stereotyping can be offensive to a race. One would not like to be called dumb simply because of their race. One would not like to be called hairy because they are of a specific race. This essay shows how the author broke stereotyping and encouraged his students to do the same.

Quarantined Doctors
"White House Pressures States to Reverse Mandatory Ebola Quarantine Orders"
By: Marc Santora and Michael D. Shear
Source: Huffington Post
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/27/nyregion/ebola-quarantine.html
The recent Ebola outbreak has caused much tension in the United States. Ebola was brought from Africa with travelers who were either returning to their homeland or simply visiting. Citizens and residents of the United States are intimidated of getting infected by this contagious disease. The symptoms of the disease are quite horrific and eventually lead to death. The stage before death is the most severe of all. The disease causes the infected to secrete blood from all openings of their body. Because of the infectiousness of the disease, America has gone overboard with trying confine those who have been unfortunate enough to catch the terrible virus. The first person to be quarantined was Kaci Hickox, in New Jersey, who was just returning from Africa. Although she had no trace of the disease, she remained quarantined under inhumane treatment. Other states like New York have also have been conducting inhumane quarantine treatments like New Jerseys. The White House has finally took a stand in this madness. Obama spoke out stating that he wanted these madness and unnecessary acts to stop. These people are being trying like animals and America is going too far with this Ebola controversy.
Ebola is very serious and may cause many deaths. Because of this, people who have caught the disease should remain quarantined. But, the cases of the few who have been quarantined have been inhumane. The government should feel pity for those who have caught the virus instead of treating them like they are animals. The treatment or more fortunately, the cure, should shortly be discovered. After that, this Ebola crisis will come to an end.

Education
If education was not a big deal today, then where would humans be? Would society be this technologically advanced? Would the government be different? Would the social hierarchy have different standards? Many years ago, when one was born into a social class, it was nearly impossible to move up a class. Up to a decade ago, many teens would not complete high school. Dropping out was a common act. Even before that, school was not mandatory Society has made a drastic change since then. The government has passed a law that all teens must attend high school. All teens must receive minimum a high school education. This has given society a better chance to reach a higher class in society. Education has helped people prosper and expand their mind knowledge. Knowledge is money hence leading these people to be successful in their lives. Those who say education is not important are the ones who dropped out of high school and are working at McDonalds at minimum wage. The people who are mowing others lawns or plumbing their toilet systems most likely regret not getting a higher education. The level of someones education determines how far they have gotten in life and how rich they are. Education is wealth. Nothing makes a human richer than education. Any person can work hard and become a millionaire, but not every person can have a mind so rich with information dying to be used. There is nothing more important in this world than education, and colleges should be free to help the less fortunate students to meet their education goals.
Anatomy of the Ebola Virus
"This Ebola Diagram Shows What The Deadly Virus Really Looks Like And How It Works'

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/19/ebola-diagram-virus-how-it-works_n_5921108.html?utm_hp_ref=science
The Ebola virus has become a common topic for conversation today. The widespread of the virus has raised awareness for people all over the world. Recently, the virus had entered America causing commotion. The danger virus has multiple symptoms. The symptoms which diagnose a human with Ebola are fever, weakness, throat inflammation, muscle aches, headache, and diarrhea. At first, doctors were completely clueless about this virus since they had never had the chance of treating it. It was completely new. Doctors did not know what caused it, or the viruses anatomy, or how one could be cured. Finally, the anatomy of the Ebola virus has been discovered.
The length of the Ebola virus particle itself is one hundred nanometers, compared to a human hair which is about 80,000 to 100,000 nanometers. The outermost layer of the particle is called the viral membrane. The viral membrane can be compared to a plastic bag. This membrane is made of proteins and fats called lipids which are stolen from the human host cells. On the viral membrane are little spiky proteins called glycoprotein. This protein attaches to the human cell and eventually makes its way inside it, taking over the cell. The next part of the Ebola particle is the layer consisting of nucleoproteins. The purpose of the nucleoproteins are to wrap the RNA into a helical shape. The last and innermost part of the Ebola particle is the viral RNA. The viral RNA contains the viruses genetic information. Ebola only has seven genes.

Mandatory Volunteering
What is volunteering? What is the point of community service? It is giving back to your community, of course. We live in a country where in some cases, education is free, food is free, parks are free, transportation is free, and other services are also free. From where and how are all these complimentary attractions provided? From volunteering, of course. Students helping out their community truly learn a lot about reality. They learn responsibility and how it really is out there in the real world. It is a complete new experience for a student. Teens can learn about other cultures, races, hierarchal classes, and the situations of the less fortunate. This experience will allow them to be more open minded and more educated and understand countless ways of being helpful and benevolent to others who need help. Some high schools have taken the right step into making community service mandatory.
Although the extracurricular may add an extra burden on teens or make them feel like they are being forced to doing work, which will eventually lead them to lose interest, volunteering has many positives. If a student is doing the right work and volunteering at the right place which is a place of their choice, they will not feel like they are being forced. It will also be an activity they look forward to going to attending and will not be as burdensome. Community service may have its ups and downs but at the end, volunteering truly benefits a student, not to mention, the more volunteer hours, the better it looks on one's college resume.

ISIS Strikes Again
"Islamic State Militants Publicly Kill 6 Iraqi Troops As Airstrikes Continue"

ISIS has done it again! ISIS has once again captured the media's attention executing their heinous acts. People are becoming so used to hearing and reading about ISIS, that the current matters are now to no surprise. ISIS publicly murdered six Iraqi troops. This event broke out in a town about 140 kilometers west of Baghdad, called Hit. Hit was overrun by ISIS on Thursday. The Iraqi soldiers were lined up against a wall, one of them being in uniform, and shot to death. They also bombed a police station in the town. The witnesses of the crime maintained anonymity in fear of being caught by ISIS and having to face the same fate as the victims of the Hit town shooting.
With these tragic events taking place, the United States has responsively abided ISIS. The United States has sent several airstrikes targeting ISIS based camps and positions. One of the airstrikes took place in Anbar where a group of ISIS positions were held. Another day, The United States had sent six airstrikes to Iraq, including one in Hit destroying two Islamic Humvees. Another four airstrikes were conducted in the city of Fallujah, which was in northern Iraq. In southern Iraq, one airstrike was conducted in the town of Sinjar.
Although the United States is working on ISIS, their efforts are not enough. But it should not the United States concern. How can a countries like Iraq and Syria have people of their own country be killed by people of their own country? If their presidents or leaders cannot control their own citizens, they should simply be replaced. Having so many people die over an abhorrent group is just unacceptable.

Protests In Hong Kong
"Democracy Protests In Hong Kong Turn Violent"
By: James Pomfret and Yimou Lee
Source: Huffington Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/27/hong-kong-democracy-protest_n_5892862.html
On September 27, 2014, a protest broke out in Hong Kong concerning their love and peace rally. These supporters and leaders who supported the Occupy Central with Love and Peace rally broke through the police barriers and trespassed into the city's headquarters. Those who rallied were sprayed with pepper spray and eventually fights broke out between the rebels and the police. These rebels did not agree with their 'autonomous' government and believed that they were not as free as the government made them believe they were. Tensions had been rising and finally they had broken out with about 80,000 supporters at the protest. About sixty people were arrested, one of which was Joshua Wong, who is a seventeen year old boy whom had once succeeded to gather 120,000 protestors for another concern two years prior. This protest was one of the most disobedient acts committed by citizens and had truly shocked the government.
As a student, one would truly understand how difficult it would be to gather so many protestors at the age of fifteen. One could really tell how much this situation meant to citizens, even the ones as young as Joshua who helped gather 80,000 supporters. In America, this would be a significant doing from a minor. Protests are the best way to get the medias attention. Especially when violence breaks out, one will know that the concern will get extra attention and be on the news headlines for a while, as long as it may interest people.

Cookies And Cream
Have you ever craved a food so immensely that when your parents refuse to buy it for you, you begin to cry? I have. This has only happened once. As a child, during a cold winter day, I was craving my favorite type of ice cream. I had to have it. My mother refused to buy me ice cream trying to reason that it was too cold and I would get sick. I did not care. I wanted my ice cream. My eyes started tearing up and I started to shed crocodile tears. My mother, not knowing what to do, led me to Baskin Robbins, which had my favorite ice cream. I stood on my tippy toes, scanning the different varieties of ice cream which were offered, but I already knew. My eye only caught one bowl of ice cream. It was labeled "Cookies and Cream". A waffle cone was filled three huge scoops of the heavenly ice cream. As I took the cone from the employee, the cone looked like a mountain compared to my small framed face. I gave the cone a look of appreciation before I took her in my mouth and devoured her. The vanilla and the mushy cookies and the cone all blended so nicely together. I was in love. The vanilla bean was my second favorite ice cream but adding cookies to it just made it scrumptious. I had a preference of what type of cookies I liked in my ice cream and Baskin Robbins perfected it. Some ice cream shops but hard crunchy cookies in the ice cream but I did not like that. I preferred the mushy, soft cookies which had been soaked to melt in your mouth the second it touched your tongue. The cookie was neither too dark or too milky but just in between to make it perfect. It was and still is the best ice cream I have ever had and will never betray cookies and cream to buy another flavor.
ISIS Against Women
"ISIS Is Attacking Women, And Nobody Is Talking About It"
By: Kira Brekke
Source: Huffington Post
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/08/isis-attacks-on-women_n_5775106.html?cps=gravity
Lately, the Islamic States of Iraq and Syria have caused a big commotion. This extremist group had beheaded two American Journalists named James Foley and Steven Sotloff. All people are attracting attention from the attacks of ISIS with the public media except for the women. No one seems to know what is happening to the women. Haleh Esfandiari, who is a director at the Woodrow Wilson Center of the Middle Eastern program, has finally brought attention to the women who are suffering ISIS. When ISIS attacks a village, they usually murder all of the men. Later, the women are taken and separated into two groups: the elders and the adolescents. The elders are taken into slavery. Other villages try to collect money to buy and free the slaves but ISIS prefers to sell their slaves to other fighters. As for the young girls, they are either raped, married off to fighters, or both. These girls are as young as seven years old and can go up to fifteen or more. These marriages with the young girls are temporary. Once a fighter has had sex with the girl, he will usually pass her on to another fighter. Unfortunately, the suffering of these women has not grabbed the attention of the media as well as two men have.
The events taking place involving the ISIS are quite barbaric. Unfortunately, the women are not gaining enough media attention for people to realize how much they are suffering. Women have always been the target for everything. They never stop struggling. It it always a fight of equality between men and women. Women in the United States and some other countries have succeeded but the women in the Islamic States are failing. Attention must be brought to this. Women are not toys. They cannot be passed around. Women are not prostitutes. They cannot be sexually used then passed on to the next man. These situations towards women must be stopped.

As Above, So Below
As Above, So Below
By: Simon Abrams

http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/as-above-so-below-2014
Rogerebert.com is a movie review blog which was created by Roger Eber who passed away in 2013. His love of movies influenced his movie critic companions to continue the blog and keep it alive with their own reviews. This specific review was about the recent movie "As Above, So Below" which was written by another movie critic named Simon Abrams. The film is a 'found-footage' movie about two extremely smart and experienced explorers who are searching for a special stone. To get this stone, they must travel through the Parisian catacombs where they start experiencing some paranormal activity only to reveal later on that they have in fact reached hell. After a series of deaths and battles, only three out of the six explorers make it out alive while the other three die in the catacombs. Abrams believes that the movie could have been made better especially with a different camera style. He gives this film an average rating.
The writer mentions no ethos in the review but taken from the website he is posting his review on, one may know that he is a professional movie critic. No logos or is provided but the almost the whole review is based on pathos. The whole review is the critics opinion. He writes about what he likes and the specific scenes that he does not. The only claim of fact would be when he mentions the actors and actresses featuring in the movie and gives a brief description of the movie. Claim of value would be the opinions that Abrams is sharing with the audience. Abrams believes this is an average movie but another may be believe that this movie was brilliant as well as another thinking this movie was a waste of time. The claim of policy would be when Abrams suggests that they make the movie with a different camera style since the picture is so jittery. Other than that, he makes no suggestion so change anything.

Obama Lies
"Obama Delays Immigration Action Until After Election"

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/09/06/obama-delays-immigration-election_n_5776738.html
Obama has done it again! He has lied to his citizens once again. Immigrants who were hoping to become citizens of Americans were rejected until after the November election. Obama had promised to take care of their issues before the end of this summer but on July 30 he gave a speech where he stated that he would have to delay the immigration situation until after the election in November. The Democrats believe that this was done purposely. They believe Obama had done this on purpose so they would gain less votes therefore not win the election. The immigrants are also very angered by Obamas decision. Obama made them a promise but now he broke it. America was dealing with many situations of minors crossing the United States border without the accompaniment of an adult. Obama had ask for millions of dollars to take care of this problem but now he has delayed the whole action until after the November election.
This is not the first time Obama is lying to a group of people. He is coming up with excuses to delay what really needs to be done. An example can be accepting the Armenian Genocide. While he was running for president, many promises were made to accept the Armenian Genocide. When he was finally voted for president, all promises were broken. Politics were taken over humanity. Armenians had been lied to. Obama is not a word keeping president. He lies to get into office. Politicians like this should not be supported.

US Cyber-attacks
"JPMorgan and Other Banks Struck by Cyberattack"
By: Nicole Perlroth
Source: The New York Times
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/08/28/technology/hackers-target-banks-including-jpmorgan.html
In this past month, over five banks were cyber-attacked including JPMorgan. Many investigations are being led to trace the location of the hackers. The cyber-attacks targeted the banks and stole gigabytes of information which including savings and checking account information. This type of hacking is extremely advanced and occurs on a daily basis to large companies like JPMorgan. Unfortunately, the hackers have not yet been tracked but there are many theories as to where these hackers are attacking from. Some believed these attacks were from their own clients who were trying to steal savings and checking account information. Others believe the attacks are the work of the Russians. Many warnings were announced pertaining to cyber-attacks from Russia. Some believe that these attacks were not for political purposes. There are many types of theories but none of them will be confirmed until the trackers find the location of the hackers.
Cyber-attacks can be just as dangerous as physical attacks. Just because one is not holding a gun to the others head does not mean it is not dangerous. If the wrong information gets into the wrong persons hands, then many problems will be created. Along with the problems the come along with it, a mass of these files are confidential. As smart are humans are nowadays, they should start working on computer programs which are non hackable. Humans have all these abilities to make smartphones and hybrid cars and robots but they have a hard time putting together a software which is non hackable. Perhaps they should focus a little more on helping the government rather than releasing the newest iPhone.

Queen Elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth gave quite a powerful speech when she spoke to her people before the Spanish Armada attack. She was dressed in armor, standing amongst her people rather than hidden behind her bodyguards. The English were greatly outnumbered by the Spanish Armada, who had been planning on attacking them for three years. During these years, the English were in a hefty financial situation and the troops were suffering from thirst, starvation, and dirtiness.
The subject of this speech would be Queen Elizabeths support for her troops. The occasion of the text is at Tilbury in 1588 before Queen Elizabeth and her troops leave for battle. The audience of this speech would be the troops gathered around Queen Elizabeth as she delivers her speech. Queen Elizabeths purpose is to persuade, energize, enliven, empower, strengthen, and stimulate her troops to fight energetically for their country. This speech would be considered a pep rally for her troops who will soon go to battle against an outnumbered army while their chances of winning are quite slim. The tone would be profoundly powerful, encouraging, and patriotic.
To understand this piece of literature, SOAPST helps to understand the purpose of the speech and why it was delivered at that time and why in front of that specific audience. The piece would be effective to the audience in great extent because not only did the troops have their queen standing amongst them, but they had a great speech to energize them for the upcoming battle. The speech gave them thoughtful reasons and led them to win the battle.
California Earthquake
"California Hit With Earthquake Of 6.0 Magnitude"
By: Ellen Knickmeyer

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/24/california-earthquake_n_5703959.html
Recently on Sunday, August 17, a major earthquake targeted the Bay Area in Northern California. The residents were shocked as this was completely unexpected. The earthquake dropped with a magnitude of 6.0 which was the largest earthquake to be recorded since the 1989 earthquake in Loma Prieta. Six homes were set on fire, four of which were mobile homes. Other minor fires were also reported. The firefighters were having difficulty putting out fires due to the broken water pipes. Hospitals were busy due to the amount of moderate injuries and two people who were heavily injured. The earthquake was said to be extremely lengthy and destructive. It hit around 3:30 am, knocking products off of shelves in stores and breaking windows. It was quite violent.
Natural disasters like earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes, and hurricanes show just about how fragile human beings are. An earthquake like this one can hit and leave many injured and unfortunately some dead. As such fragile beings, people should be more cautious and alert about natural disasters as they are unpreventable. If people cannot avoid natures effects, they can at least be more prepared. All it takes is one little shake to cause minimal to moderate injuries to people. Human lives as well as other living creatures should be spared. One must always expect the unexpected. One should never doubt the true power of Earths abilities. One must fear nature because unlike a disease or a wild animal, Earth cannot be stopped, prevented or tamed.

Starbucks Is Life

The advertisement presented above is by Starbucks. The advertisement background is a human eye taped wide open which one may assume is to keep the person awake. The quote written under the eye gives a better description by stating that staying awake will never be that painful anymore assuming people have gone to extreme measures as to tape their eyes open so they would not fall asleep. Of course this advertisement is exaggerated since people do not tape their eyes open when they have a hard time staying awake. As you look on further you see a quote that brands the advertisement by saying, " It's not just coffee. It's STARBUCKS." In the corner of the advertisement, is located the logo of Starbucks with will be the ethos appeal of the advertisement. This advertisement does not contain any sign of logos but pertains mostly to pathos. Many people have a hard time staying awake while they have important work to finish thus seeing this advertisement many will want to try Starbucks to stay awake. The quote also helps catch students' and workers' attentions stating that they will no longer have a hard time staying awake. Since this Starbucks advertisement appeals to so many people it would be labeled as effective. Many people who see this advertisement will want to try their coffee to stay awake and just the statement that 'staying awake will no longer be this painful anymore' will surely catch the audiences eye. Starbucks was and always has been a favorite coffee shop for many.

The Outsiders

All people have a different preference of what they enjoy reading. Some people enjoy romance. Some enjoy action. Some enjoy drama. Some enjoy the collaberations between romance, action, and drama. I am one of those people, hence my favorite book is The Outsiders. Not only does this book make you grow amazingly fond of the characters, but it helps you relate to them also. Whether it is teen romances, cliques, drama, or daily life, The Outsiders shows you the the dark side to society from the lower classes point of view. America is not all about palm trees and celebrities. There are many gangs up to date who still experience the problems that were told of in this novel. There are points in this book which feel like you have just had your heart pulled out and trampled on. Times when you cry even after finishing the book because that is how close you grow to the characters. And that is what i love about this book. It makes you feel human. It makes you feel all these emotions all for characters who have never existed. The Outsiders tells you about gangs that may be nonexistant, but relate to gangs in that era. These are real world problems that no one pays attention to just because they concern the lower class. On top of all these reasons why I and many love The Outsiders, is because of the beautiful quotes that have become so popular around the world. The Outsiders has numerous reasons to be a readers favorite book and it definitely is mine. Stay gold.
