President Barack Obama was interviewed recently on the topic of the protests taking place in Ferguson, Missouri. His interview was a response to the young civil rights activists who were leading these protests in Ferguson. The reason for theses riots were because racism is still occurring in many areas of the United States, not concerning racial matters around the world. Obama replied by stating the time will one day come where the world, or more realistically, the United States will no longer face any court cases of discrimination and discrimination will not be an issue anymore. But, he said, in order for this too happen, it will take time. The solution will not come overnight. It will take years. If one were to ask their elders how discrimination was back in their day compared to now, they would apply that it had improved and gotten better, but not completely dissolved.
Discrimination was a major issue back in the days. The severity of discrimination was so bad that African Americans were slaves bought and sold in auctions as if they were objects. They did not have rights and were only given the right to vote as an American years ago. Since discrimination was an issue for so long, the issue will need time be handled. The rest of the world needs time to adjust to the fact that the blacks are no longer our slaves but now people we share the government with. The discrimination issue has not been completely resolved, but it has definitely gotten better.
